Dr. Jason Lam

BDM, BMBS, DCH, MSportsMed, FRACGP

Jason is best known for his fusion of art and medicine; his first degree was in visual arts and he was a professional dancer and artist before retiring from dance to pursue medicine. He uses his artistic eye and obsessive attention to detail to ensure the best, natural looking results with minimal downtime. He values and creates open communication to understand your concerns to help make an informed treatment plan for you.

He graduated from Flinders University in South Australia before working as registrar in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dermatology and maxillo-facial surgery. He trained with award winning plastic surgeon Dr Rohit Kumar (https://www.drkumar.com.au/) and gained advanced skills in skin cancer assessment and management, further learning from Dr Russell Aldred (St Vincents Hospital, Sydney) and his minimally scarring surgical techniques.

Jason has completed advanced courses in flap dissection and reconstruction and microneural, microvascular and flexor tendon repair at the University of Western Australia’s Clinical Training and Evaluation Centre (CTEC). He also has post graduate studies with the Australian College of Dermatology and is actively involved in research presenting and publishing nationally and internationally. He has been an AHPRA mentor and is passionate about education and training, and loves teaching the next generation of doctors.

Jason is currently undertaking a second Fellowship with the Australian College of Sports and Exercise Physicians. He is involved with local sports teams and was the inaugural Crichton Dance Medicine Fellow with the Australian Ballet. Outside of medicine he designs custom jewelry, makes short films and animations and rides his mountain bike with more enthusiasm than skill (and is trying to train his toddler to come along for the ride).
