Ananya began her professional journey in 2003 and worked in various hospitals in India and Australia for 5 years. She started to take a keen interest in skin cancer management when she began her career as a general practitioner in Mount Gambier a decade ago. A large proportion of her patients were from the local farming communities who presented with extensive sun damage. This gave her an opportunity to diagnose and manage various types of skin cancer.
Since there was limited access to female dermatologists/skin cancer specialists in the region, she took the initiative to train further in this field and obtained an Advanced certificate in Skin cancer Medicine(HealthCert). She is currently in the process of completing a Diploma in skin cancer medicine (HealthCert). As a clinic partner in Mount Gambier, she was involved in the running of a skin cancer service alongside her busy General Practice.
Her patient driven learning and passion to provide wholistic care as GP has given her the opportunity to treat various types of skin cancers and perform several minor procedures over the years. She has continued to offer this service after moving to Bluff Road Medical centre in 2020.
Ananya is a strong advocate of preventive health and believes skin care and cancer prevention is integral to this. As an enthusiastic learner she continues to attend various skin cancer courses and conferences with an aim to provide best possible care to her patients.
